Robert Pires

Robert Pires was an excellent buy for Arsenal from Marseille in 2000. Pires joined his compatriots Vieira, Henry and Wiltord and linked to particularly good effect with them. The French winger, despite being right-footed, made the majority of his appearances on the left wing. A position from which he has scored a tremendous number of goals for a midfielder!

Pires came back from a horrific injury to win honours and go through the unbeaten season with the Gunners before joining Villarreal at the end of his contract in 2006. Hey Bobby, Merci!
