G4L Player of the Month for December is...........?
G4L_Harry (16 January 2010)
Well the votes are in, verified and the poll closed, with the most votes this season for a PoTM poll on G4L, so thanks to all of you out there that voted.
It was a very interesting poll this month, nip and tuck all the way through, with 3 players vying for the coveted 1st place and join previous winners, such as Vermaelen, Van Persie and Fabregas.
Beside the three front runners there was some credit and recognition given to others, with Aaron Ramsey and Samir Nasri both picking up quite a few votes, sharing 20% of the votes with some others, some more spurious than others, one funny reader keeps voting for Almunia!!!
But the three front runners, saw Fabregas, Song and Diaby really push on, sharing 80% of the votes between them.......
In third Place saw the consistent Song who has had a quality season, prior to departing to the ANC, with the home game against Everton showing what we are missing whilst he is away, polling 24% of the votes.
In 2nd place and almost nicking it at the end with a virtuoso performance against Villa was Fabregas who polled 27% of the votes.
But after probably his longest injury free run in the team, in a role more suited to him was Diaby, who has really kicked on this last month, which saw him polled 29% of the votes, just pipping Cesc, but deservedly so.
Often a maligned player in the eyes of many supporters, Abou Diaby has taken a long time to win over many fans, with a frustrating ability to be brilliant one minute and then bizarrely poor another, usually choosing a poor option in a pass or holding onto the ball too long.
But he had a massive game against Hull, where a goal and MotM display helped us to a 3-0 win, then equally as strong against Villa where a great marauding, powerful run saw Diaby cap a great win with a sublime goal................
And with Song away, Arsenal need Diaby to produce some more big powerful performances in the next two matches as Arsenal trot upto Bolton on Sunday, who now have Owen Coyle in charge, just 3 days before the reverse fixture, after the original match was rescheduled twice due to other committments and recently weather issues.
Do you feel that Diaby can now push on in his Arsenal Career? What impresses you about him, what are his strengths and weaknesses or Will he just fade away?

I think Diaby is a player who still have room for improvement . I must confess i was never a fan of Diaby but his performance in our last couple of games really shows the kind of player he his. All i wish him is an injury free season and the strenght to continue in his development. Finally i think he deserves the December Arsenal player of the month award he has really worked for it.

Sammy i agree, I wasn't a big fan, he made me nervous when he had the ball. Now he is in the starting line up his confidence has grown immensely and he is becoming a dominant figure on the field. I loved Viera, he stood strong in midfield and wasn't afraid to dish it out, even if it meant a red card. I hope Diaby will continue to grow and show this type of strength.
